What is included in door-to-door shipping?
The scope can include supplier pickup, export clearance, international freight, import clearance, duty and tax coordination, and final delivery. The quote states which items are included.
Is door-to-door the same as DDP?
No. Door-to-door describes the physical route. DDP is an Incoterm that also assigns duty, tax, and importer responsibilities to the seller.
What is the difference between port-to-port and door-to-door transit time?
Port-to-port measures only the main vessel or flight leg. Door-to-door also includes supplier pickup, export handling, consolidation, customs clearance, deconsolidation, appointments, and final delivery. Use the door-to-door range for inventory planning because those handoffs often explain more delay than the advertised main-leg transit.
Can you arrange delivery appointments with a warehouse or distribution centre?
Yes, when the receiving instructions, reference numbers, operating hours, and contact details are available. Appointment delivery should be planned alongside customs release and free time. A missed or changed slot can create storage or redelivery costs, so one party should own confirmation and status updates.
